What student-athletes and parents in New Jersey need to know about name, image, and likeness — in plain language.
Rules verified as of August 2026What does this date mean?
The short version
The NJSIAA approved NIL in November 2021. New Jersey athletes may do commercial endorsements, promotional activities, social media deals, product advertisements, and even NFTs — and may be paid for coaching or athletic instruction (as long as they don't play on the team they coach). Deals must stay separate from the school and NJSIAA, and a category list is prohibited.
